A Baby Shower for a Baby Boy
I teamed up with a friend to co-host a baby shower for her sister. Leading up to the shower, we did a lot of Pinteresting and Googling to get ideas for our party. I want to share a few pictures from the event in case there is someone out there looking for ideas just like we were.
We did not have a specific theme, but we did have a color scheme: black, blue and white with polka dots!
The Food and Drinks
For the party food we served:
- Cupcakes (topped with white or blue icing)
- Sandwiches
- Veggies with ranch
- Fruit with a yogurt dip
- Chips and salsa
- Hawaiian punch drink mix
- Bottled water
I purchased a plastic black polka dot table cover, and I think that really gave our table setup a nice touch.
To achieve the look of our drink station we used:
- A metal drink bin to store bottled water
- PB Classic Glass Drink Dispenser (Large)
- Rhodes Drink Dispenser Stand
- Starbucks Frappuccino Glass Bottles (check out this tutorial from on removing the labels at A Party Studio)
- Black & White Paper Party Striped Straws
The Decor
My friend pieced together these really pretty diaper cakes. She made one large cake for the food table and several small cakes for centerpieces on the tables.
For more party decor, I cut circles from blue, black and white card stock with a large circle punch. I then used my sewing machine to stitch several circles together creating the garland.
The Games
Now, what baby shower does not have games? We played:
- Don’t say baby
- Guess how many jelly beans are in the bottle (the shower was a week before Easter)
- The Price is Right
- Guess the circumference of the mom’s belly
The winners won $5 gift cards to Starbucks. We also had a station for baby name suggestions.
The Favors
For party favors, we kept it simple. I bought some cookies, placed them in clear treat bags and tied them with blue ribbons.
We had a great time and it was a lovely event.
