My sister asked me to crochet her a hat. I was very excited to receive the request. I searched around a bit looking for the perfect pattern. That’s when I came across AlyseCrochet Etsy’s shop. I just love her designs! She has for sale almost 100 patterns. I had a really hard time choosing which pattern of hers I wanted to use. I finally settled on using her Penny Slouchy Hat pattern.
The Tools and Supplies:
Here is a list of the tools and supplies I gathered to make the hat.
- Loops & Threads Impeccable Glitter (Gold)
- Loops & Threads Impeccable Glitter (Blue Diamond)
- ChiaoGoo Size H Hook (I love my ChiaoGoo hooks! For the longest time I just used aluminum hooks, but one day I had the opportunity to try out the ChiaoGoo. I’ve been hooked since! har har har)
- ChiaoGoo Size I Hook
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
Crocheting the Hat:
The pattern is very well written and easy to follow. I was able to complete the hat within a 24 hour time window. I worked on it between baby naps.
I made a few mistakes as I was trying to learn the surface braid stitch, but I think the mistakes are minor enough that they will only be noticeable to me.
The pattern is advertised for Advanced Beginners. I think that is an accurate description.
The Finished Crochet Slouchy Hat:
Despite my mistakes, I am very happy with how the hat turned out! I like the glitter yarn. The sparkle gives the hat a nice touch.
Update
I used the remaining yarn to crochet another Penny Slouchy Hat. I started the second hat around 5 pm one evening. Between many breaks, I was able to finish it shortly before midnight.
